UCI Road Race: 18-25 September 2022
This September, the world’s best cyclists are coming to Wollongong for the 2022 UCI Road World Championships. During the event, Wollongong will welcome over 1000 athletes and 300,000 spectators, and showcase our city to a global audience of more than 300 million people. You’ll find a super helpful FAQ here! This is one of the world’s biggest annual sporting events, and the largest event ever to come to Wollongong.
With council expecting 300k visitors & saying ‘let’s welcome the world to Wollongong’, a bunch of those people may never have been to a church & want to visit while they’re here. So let’s welcome the world to church and to exploring Jesus – even better and more important than Wollongong!
Plan ahead your route to church!
- We’ll run both our Gatherings (10am with kids program and 5pm) on both Sundays, so find the best way to participate in Church depending on how road closures affect you.
- Make a plan! We’d love for you to either come in person or watch church online with some others those 2 Sundays. It could take longer to park or you might have to park further away, so get here earlier. Or ride your bike in?!

The council is working with Wollongong 2022, the local organising committee, and other partners, to make this event the best it can be, and we’re invited along for the RIDE OF YOUR LIFE. The Championships are part of the NSW Government’s 10 World Cups in 10 years initiative, along with the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the 2027 Men’s Rugby World Cup.
First held in 1921, the Championships span eight days and multiple events, including the team time trial mixed relay, individual time trial and road race events. The Championships include a range of men’s and women’s races, across age groups from junior to elite. There are also some great community participation events! Check out their socials for more info.
