Why We Serve…
In response to God serving us, we want to gladly serve Jesus and others with everything we’ve got in all of our lives. This is the very thing God saved us for! ‘To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father; to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen’ (Rev 1:5-6).
One group God wants us to serve is our Church, and God has given each of us gifts so we can do that. ‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others’ (1 Peter 4:10). So we want to help you use the gifts God’s given you to serve your Church family at Salt by joining one of our teams.
Where We Serve…
It can be hard to know how to serve at Salt. Maybe you can only see 2 or 3 places to serve and you might even think we don’t need you. Nothing could be further from the truth! We have almost 50 ways you can be involved, and we need everyone to serve so we can make and grow disciples of Jesus at Salt.
Here are 2 things that will help you find a good fit between you (your gifts, interests and capacity) and Salt Church (our needs and opportunities)…
Serving Roles:
Check out this list of all our serving teams, info about what’s involved in each of them, and a guide of how much time per month you’d give to serve in that area.
Serving Convos:
Serving convos are a no-pressure 20-40 min chat about ways you could get involved at Salt. We’ll either give you a call, catch up for a coffee, or meet before or after Church (whatever works best). We’ll ask some questions to help you work out the gifts God’s given you and to suggest some best-fit ways you could get involved. From there we put you in contact with the leader of any serving team you’re interested in so you can find out more, before you commit and get started. Serving convos also don’t have to be a one-time thing; if a role doesn’t work out, or you want to serve in another way, or you want to serve more or less, we’d love to chat again. Our aim is not to guilt you, drop you in the deep end with a big responsibility, or sign you up for something you can’t get out of! What we want most is to help you serve God gladly, for your good and for God’s glory.
Email serve@saltchurch.info to let us know you want a serving convo or tick ‘I’d like to chat about serving’ on your Connection Card on a Sunday (if you haven’t already).
