Zech 3:1–3
3:1
Next I saw Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord,
with Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.
2
The Lord said to Satan, “May the Lord rebuke you, Satan! May the Lord, who
has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Isn’t this man like a burning stick
snatched from the fire?”
3
Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood there before the
angel.
One thought:
Most Christians make one of two mistakes. Either they think Satan is more powerful than he is or that he doesn’t exist at all.
Three questions:
What would Satan be accusing Joshua of?
Do you feel ashamed of your sin?
Write a list of recent sins – then ‘cross’ them off as forgiven by Jesus
Prayer:
Praise God that He is a merciful God who protects His people from their accusers. Give thanks that in Christ you can ignore the accusations of Satan. Ask God to help you + someone else live in freedom from sin and it’s accompanying shame.
