Matt 12:30–32, 1 John 4:1–6

12:30
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
31
For this reason I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
32
Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
1
At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on a Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pick heads of wheat and eat them.

4:1
Now when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that he was winning and baptising more disciples than John
2
(although Jesus himself was not baptising, but his disciples were),
3
he left Judea and set out once more for Galilee.
4
But he had to pass through Samaria.
5
Now he came to a Samaritan town called Sychar, near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.
6
Jacob’s well was there, so Jesus, since he was tired from the journey, sat right down beside the well. It was about noon.

One thought:

To reject the testimony of the Spirit about Jesus person & work is to blaspheme the Spirit and therefore reject the truth.

Three questions:

How necessary is the Holy Spirit for the believer to know Christ?

Do you confess that Jesus is the Christ?

Prayer:

Praise God that through the Spirit we can confess Jesus as the Christ/Messiah. Give thanks that (if you confess Jesus as Lord) you have the Spirit and are a child of God. Ask God to help you ‘test the Spirit’ – being wise to those who claim to be believers.
