Matthew 6:16–18

16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

One thought:

We may not fast like this, but perhaps we do other things like publicising our charity on FB/Insta?

Three questions:

What good thing do you like people knowing you do?

Do you desire recognition from people?

What good thing do you like people knowing you do?

Prayer:

Praise God that He sees us and our work done in His name. Give thanks that Jesus’ desire was to please His Father and not people. Ask God to help you + someone else do God’s work but for His pleasure and not recognition by other people.
