Rom 8:12–17

8:12
So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh,
to live according to the flesh
13
(for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the
Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
14
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.
15
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but
you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”
16
The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children.
17
And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs
with Christ)—if indeed we suffer with him so we may also be glorified with
him.

One thought:

The sons and daughters of the King have an obligation to uphold the values of their household

Three questions:

Why are we under an obligation?

Do you see God as Father?

What does it look like for you right now to ‘suffer with Christ’?

Prayer:

Praise God for the Spirit who witnesses to our Spirit that we are children of God. Give thanks that in Christ we are children and heirs of God. Ask God to help you (+ others) to fulfil the obligations of His household.
