For in the same way the holy women who hoped in God long ago adorned
themselves by being subject to their husbands,

like Sarah who obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You become her children
when you do what is good and have no fear in doing so.

 

 

One thought:

 

Depending on a persons situation – this can be a very hard passage. Wives are called to respect their husbands – but this is not the same as accepting abuse.

Please – if you are being abused in any form, seek help.

 

 

Three questions:

 

See that the absolutely principle here is hope in God. Marriage is messy here on earth, if our hope is in marriage – it is in vain.

 

What do you feel a holy woman looks like?

 

Pray for a married couple or two – that they would put their hope in God

 

Prayer:

 

Acknowledge God as your Lord and the hope of your body and soul.

Give thanks that He has given us a way to live that honors Him.

Ask God to help you to live out His good ways rather than our own desires.
