Frequently Asked Questions

We love questions at Salt Church. Here are some of the more common questions people have about the practical side of what we do at Salt.

What happens at Salt Church?

A few things happen each week at our weekly Sunday gatherings. The band will lead us in singing a few songs (but you can just listen), we read 1 or 2 passages from the bible and then one of our Pastors gets up and gives a talk from the bible passages, which generally goes for about 30 minutes (you can listen to previous sermons here). We also have a short break which is a chance to grab some food and a drink and meet some people and finish with a couple more songs.

What time does church finish?

Sunday church starts at either 9:00 am, 10:45 am and 5:00 pm. Each gathering goes for about 75 minutes. Most weeks people have dinner together after 5:00 pm church, and you’re certainly welcome to join us!

Do I need to bring my own Bible?

If you have your own bible it would be helpful for you to bring it. But otherwise we have spare bibles at the table near the doors – so feel free to grab one on your way in. If you don’t own a bible, we’d love for you to keep it. Take it home and read it – we think the message in the Bible is the best news you’ll ever hear!

Will I be expected to do anything during the service?

No. We have music and singing at church, but you can just listen if you’d like.

Will I be expected to give any money?

No. We encourage our regulars to financially support Salt in whatever way they can, but if you’re visiting Salt we really just want you to be our guest.

What do I wear?

Salt Church isn’t formal, so don’t feel like you need to wear a suit or anything (although, no judgement if you do!). Just wear whatever you feel comfortable in – like the kind of thing you’d wear if you were going to a mates place for a BBQ.

What do you believe?

We’re a group of people who love Jesus and want to help each other follow him more. We believe he speaks to us by his spirit through the Bible and by reading it we can better know God, his world and our place in it. Read more about what we believe here.

Do you have mid-week groups?

Yes, we have a bunch of “small groups” that meet in different people’s houses during the week. At these groups we hang out, read the bible together, pray for each other and help each other work out what it means to live our lives for Jesus. If you’re interested in joining a small group, come along to church and speak to one of our Pastors or get along to Beginning.

I still have questions.

No worries, we love questions. Come along on Sunday, come to Life or contact us here.
